Gift Giving

There are many occasions during the year when we traditionally give gifts and receive them. But, there are also some special days that should be celebrated as personal milestones. Special occasions like anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, Valentine Day, and so on are not the only times we should give gifts. Giving a gift just because will brighten someone's day. We should celebrate friendships or shared accomplishments. We can use gifts to renew and strengthen our relationships with family and friends.

We give gifts to show we care and to do that we have to put some thought into the gift. Finding the right gift for the occasion can be frustrating. We want to give something that will be memorable for that person and show them how we feel. Spontaneous gift giving is a way to show we care but we should know the recipient's interest and not just rush to a store and buy something that really has no meaning.

If your friend is ill and has a dog, you can walk the dog until your friend is better. Making that offer before being asked shows that you care. A gift that has meaning comes from the heart.

Personal milestones are hard to list on a web site. We all have personal challenges that we must overcome in both our workplace and our personal lives. If someone close to you has accomplished something on a personal level and you commemorate that event with a gift, they will always remember your support and thoughtfulness.

Each gift giving occasion has its own special challenges. This is what makes gift giving unique. If we give a gift that is a true symbol and gesture of our feelings toward the recipient, it is one that will be forever cherished.
